I closed my business in the summer of 2017 to pursue my next adventure. For now, this site still lives on as a way to remember the many years I spent capturing special moments for so many. If you have a question about photos I previously shot for you, please feel free to shoot me a text. I am not currently booking new sessions, though.
Hi, I’m Jessica. Or Jessie. But not Jess unless I’ve known you for a good while…
I’m a mostly natural light photographer living in Milton, Florida. I grew up in Pensacola and I doubt my husband will ever successfully manage to drag me away from the area since I have two nephews
that the world revolves around that I want to stay close to. I graduated from the University of West Florida in spring of 2004 with a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and I still maintain full-time employment as a legal assistant (which I actually love and don’t plan on leaving to do photography full-time). I started dabbling in photography because I had a cute nephew… Next thing you know I had a new camera and was taking a break from working toward my master’s degree so I could sharpen my photography skills. And I just never went back.
My husband and I don’t have any children of our own but we plan to adopt some day. Our pets keep us on our toes and we think of them as our children. As long as your dog (or cat or hedgehog or whatever) is friendly, I have absolutely no problems with including them in your session. But do talk to me first if this is your plan so I can offer some suggestions that will make the experience easier on all of us. Along the same lines, it makes me really sad when I come to your house for a session and you shut your dog away in a broom closet (okay, so I know it’s probably not a broom closet) for the duration. I promise, unless they’re territorial or otherwise destructive, having your furry children underfoot will not bother me in the least. And I won’t let them out the front door when I’m loading or unloading my gear, either! (Unless they are REALLY good at that game. It has only happened to me once and I’m told she was a master escape artist.)
While my primary focus has become children’s photography (you can see here how well my own nephews behave during photo sessions!) I do still enjoy shooting a variety of different types of photography, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you think my style might be a good fit for you. I’ll confess adults are so much easier after working with kids who rarely do as you ask! Honestly, though, I love children and many have said my patience with them is impressive. It really makes me happy to see the look on a parent’s face when I sneak them a look at the back of my camera from time to time – when they think their little one has been unruly and uncooperative but I managed to capture THE split second they show their angelic side. But I also enjoy weddings, engagement sessions, family portraits with “older kids” and the like. Sorry, but I don’t do boudoir. I can recommend a great photographer who does, but it’s just not my thing. Nor do I particularly care to see anyone half naked at an engagement or maternity session. I say all of this to stress the importance of finding a photographer that is a good match for you. We should both be on the same page for the best results… and in the end, I want you to be happy with my work!
Photos on this page were taken by my friend Len. He’s also usually my second shooter for weddings when I need one. Thanks, Len!
